Setting up the MATCH Ground Stacks

Setting up the MATCH Ground Stacks

These instructions are also printed and inside the ground stacks mains case.

Equipment-

·      The mains and subs are stored up on the 2nd floor in the hallway at the top of the ramp leading up toward MB 4.

·      The amplifiers for the ground stacks are in the rolling rack stored in the sound cage with the monitor system amps.

·      Brackets and poles for the mains should be on top of the subs and mains cases.

Set up

·      Subs should be rolled off the wheels on to the skids and then set DSL and DSR at the curtain.

·      Mains are both stored in a small rolling case and will need to come out.

·      Put pole into the sub for the main speaker.

Attach the mounting bracket to the main before putting on top of pole.

The “bolts” for the bracket are screwed in to the bracket itself.

·      The mains when on top of the pole, should basically focus toward the center of the last third of the house at a roughly 20 degree angle.  They do not need to be raised on the poles.  There are marks on the sides to indicate where the bracket should line up, as well as a mark on the sub to indicate the general direction.   The subs should be nested up to the curtains.

·     The amp for the ground stacks plugs into the 3 phase outlet DSR.

Patching / connecting

·      Load the ground stacks show file on the Yamaha. You will need to confirm which OMNI the L/R fader is set to and then patch that thru to DSR patch panel.  They should be set up with OMNI 9 as the L channel and OMNI 10 as the R channel.  Those each show up as Booth Console Return 9 and 10 in the amp room.  Patch those to tie 1 and 2 in the amp room.

·      Patch console tie 9 into tie 1 and console tie 10 to tie 2.

On stage, in the DSR audio panel, connect tie 1 to the L input on the back of the amp, and tie 2 to the R input on the amp. They should be labeled on the back of the amp.

Connect the sub and main speaker to the back of the amp using Speakon cable.  The back of the amp is labeled.

It is possible to route the speaker signal from SR to SL using the speaker tie lines rather than running cable all the way across the stage, but it is not required.

To do this, connect the SL speaker cables to FX/ Monitor Tie 1 and 2 in the DSR audio panel. You’ll need to keep track of which is the main and which is the sub.

In the amp room in the booth, connect FX / Monitor Tie 1 and 2 to Tie 3 and 4.

Then, connect speaker cable to FX/ Monitor ties 3 & 4 in the DSL audio panel, and then connect the appropriate signal to the sub and main on the SL side.
