Matchbox 1, 2 and 3 Audio Basics

Matchbox 1, 2 & 3 Audio Basics

Matchbox 1, 2 and 3 each have a SoundCraft Expression 1 console http://www.soundcraft.com/products/Si-Expression-1

There is a USB drive with the original sound console files attached to the desk behind the lighting console.  If for some reason, the base default file on the console has been altered, re-load from the USB drive.  In Matchbox 4, the USB drive is attached to the sound rack next to the console.

To turn the console on, simply press the power button once.  Do not press and hold the audio button as it will put the console into a software update mode and will not give you control.

To turn off the console, press and hold the button until it flashes, then press it again to turn off.

Please cover the console when not in use.

When making changes to the console, do not save over the default rep show file.  Please save as a new show name.

Other console information

There are 4 channels of Qlab built in to the rep configuration on the console.  If additional channels are required, then the patch on the console can be adjusted.  Please save as a new show file when changes are made to the patch.

When adjusting the matrix levels, tap the matrix button twice to get access to the level control.

The mic lines in the theater are one to one in the console.  So the mic line that’s labeled #1 in the theater, will be mic line 1 on the console.

Tie lines in the theater are not directly patched to the console, and need to be patched in the rack in the amp room to a console tie.

Amp room information

Mix 1 – 4 are normalled directly to FX monitor amp A –D

Mix 5 – 8 are not normalled and show up in Console Return A – D and can be patched via tie lines to locations around the room.

Video Record Line -  Matrix 4 shows up in the rack as Console Return G & H, and can be patched a videographer anywhere in the theater that there are tie lines available.

FX Monitors E – H are dedicated to the rep speaker configuration.  They are all labeled according to their appropriate location. If the speaker configuration is changed, please restore it during load out.

The two wireless channels are normalled and do not need to be patched unless sending to a secondary console in the theater.

Lobby Alternate Audio -  To have audio in the lobby that is controlled by the booth rather than the generic MATCH background music, send signal from any one of Mix 5 -8 to the Lobby Alt. Input.  This is only for Matchbox 2 and 3 as Matchbox 1 does not have audio in it’s lobby.

Test Amp – there is a test amp in each rack where you can test a signal being patched to verify that it’s sending correctly.  Simply take the patch cable from whatever source you’re sending, and plug in to test amp.  The test amp itself is just above the patch panel.
